I have noticed with high sense of humility and regard the sudden demise of late Abdullahi Maikano Yan-Ruwa the incumbent Director of Finance office of the Executive Deputy Governor of Zamfara.
Though I am not closer to the late finance guru, but I came to realize that the man has built a reputation that many seem to believe that late Mai Kano Yan Ruwa is one of the very few exceptional people that are strictly mindful of the hubbies of worldly or material things.
He died at a private hospital named Ultra-made Hospital Gwarinpa Abuja after battling with an ailment of “Cancer of the Blood”.
He was buried at his country home of Bungudu and his funeral was well attended by hundreds of family and friends from within and outside the state.
My first contact with late Maikano Yan-Ruwa was when he appeared before the investigative panel set up to recommend the impeachment of former Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu Gusau whom he served as his Director of Finance at that time.
What I noticed in late Maikano during his appearance before the panel of investigation was his calmness and the humility he has demonstrated while he was answering questions regarding how the cash allocation of over N450M was expended made me believed that he is an honest man to the core.
He was never moved for an inch while testifying before the committee on how the expenditure was made, even when many of us feels ordinarily he should be scared because of the gravity of the revelations coming from the witnesses at the investigative panel but the Man Maikano was not only calmly responding with admiration in his face but he was certainly sure of what he was revealing.
The testimony from his colleagues at the state ministry of Finance and the office of the Deputy Governor during his funeral arrangements has made me understand that Maikano was a complete gentleman who had never been into trouble with anyone.
His demise has no doubt created a wider gap that will be difficult to be filled and his legacy while alive will remain evergreen in the memory of many people that relates with him.
He has done his part and relates very well with the people, and people had attested to that with all sense of respect and humility.
We prayed for God almighty to grant his soul eternal rest and give his family to bear his irreparable lost.
