In reaction to the dissolution of the council chairmen by the PDP led government in Zamfara State, the All Progressive Congress APC has declared that, the steps taken by the state house of assembly and its subsequent reaffirmation by the governor is a clear breach of constitutional procedure.
State Chairman of the party Alh Lawal M. Liman who declared this in Gusau in a statement noted that, it is most unfortunate that, the PDP government who is the major beneficiary of the rule of law is now turning to be the one crashing on people who are enjoying their legitimate constitutional mandate of the people reposed on them by the people.
He said, it is most unfortunate while this matter of local government Council chairmen is before a competent court of law, PDP government led by Bello Matawalle has acted haphazardly by removing five out of the 14 council chairmen just because they have decided to remain in their party the APC.
Liman therefore called on the federal government and indeed all democratic institutions in the country to come to the rescue of Zamfara people before the current government of PDP crash the state into the political stream.
“I called on President Muhammadu Buhari and indeed all democratic institutions to come to the aid of Zamfara people by challenging some undemocratic decisions taken by the PDP led government before Matawallen Maradun declared himself as the lawyer and judge in his own case, hence he is going ahead of the court verdict”.
The Chairman expressed the party’s readiness to continue to pursue the legitimate mandate of the APC which was stolen by the PDP in court and promised that, the action of the PDP in removing the council chairmen elected under the umbrella of the APC will result to an exercise in futility.
He commended the effort of the APC supporters for their patience and resilience with all the threat to their freedom under the PDP led administration in Zamfara saying, soonest reality will manifest and APC will emerged victorious at the end of the whole drama.
