A retired educational administrator and former Principal of Science Secondary School Shinkafi Malam Sani Aliyu Moriki said the decision to reopen boarding schools earlier closed by Zamfara State government is a right step in the right direction.

But he intimated the new Commissioner to renew effort In reviving the release of monthly cash allocation to Principals so that they can effectively manage the affairs of their respective schools.

He said with the new development some schools would be over-burden by high number of students whose demand would be extremely high noting that since government had restrained Principals from charging additional funds as levy from the students it should revive the release of monthly cash allocation to Principals as part of boosting their Morales.

“the Commissioner should work extra harder and get government to begin to release monthly cash allocation to Principals this is very important because with the new burden Principals no doubt required huge financial support to be able to run the affairs of their respective schools” Moriki added.

Moriki who spoke to the Managing Editor of Thunder Blowers Multi Media services said, earlier than now it has been their opinion that, if the burden is too high for the state government to run boarding schools it should take the bold step of converting them to day schools.

He said while such decision is taken, the government should set up three model boarding schools one for science, the other one for technical education and the last one that would cover social sciences and art one in each of the senatorial zones.

He said rigorous screening and examinations should be conducted before students are allowed admission in to these model schools so that only appropriate pupils can be admitted to such schools.
