A two-time Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the Federal University Gusau, Prof. Ahmad Galadima, alongside Professor of Microbiology from the same University, Prof. Ibrahim Garba Zurmi, and Dr. Anas Sani Anka, had asked the National Industrial Court Abuja to halt the process of the selection for the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor of the University due to enforcement of non-statutory conditions.

Those joined as respondents in the suit include the Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau, Federal University Gusau itself, the Chairman of the University Governing Council Hon. Engr Aminu Sani Isa, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council , Mrs. Nafisa Sulaiman Barau, and the Vice Chancellor , Prof. Muazu Abubakar Gusau.

In an originating process filed before the Abuja Court (5) division of the NICN, the claimants asked the court to issue them with an order of interim injunction stopping the selection process on the basis that the August 25th, 2025 advert for the post of VC which states that an applicant for the post must possess a minimum of (10) years post-Professorial experience which in their argument said lacks legal basis

Galadima and other claimants are challenging the legality of the (10) years post Professorial experience placed in the August 25, 2025 advert , saying neither the University Miscellaneous Act nor any statutory laws or regulations empower the governing council to make such a provision.

They attached in their original complaint the advert for the post of Vice Chancellor placed by UDUS, FUDMA and FUT Minna to buttress their argument , noting that the decision by the University Governing Council to allow for placement of such a caveat was an illegality.

They have also urged the court to give a declaration that the resolution leading to the placement of the August 25th 2025 advert was illegal because during the resolution (2) members that were not recognized by law were allowed to participate at the council meeting where the said resolution place was reached.

They have also urged the court to give a declaration that the refusal of the university management led by Prof. Muazu to ensure that a law was provided for the university was deliberately done to aid him perfect his plan to exclude certain qualified people from participating in the race.

Parties are to appear before the learned judge on the 14th day of November 2025 to argue the motion on notice after which a date will be fixed for them to argue the substantive matter
