Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa the Senator who represented Zamfara Central from 2011-2019 may likely withdraw his services as surety to former Governor of Zamfara now a Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.

This position is contained in a letter of notice sent to the Senator representing Zamfara West Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar by Sen. Marafa’s counsel Dr. O. J. Onoja a Senior Advocate of Nigeria dated May 21st 2024 sent to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

It could be recall that, sometimes in July 2022, the Senator for Zamfara West Abdulaziz Yari was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over some allegations of financial improprieties where he required to get in a surety which Sen. Marafa stood for him.

The letter further addressed Sen. Yari that “our client has had a course to reassess the situation and following recent events he is constrained to withdraw his suretyship upon which your release from the EFCC custody was guaranteed.

The letter therefore asked the Sen. to look for an alternative surety, since he has intended to withdraw from the arrangement.
