Former Governor of Zamfara Sen. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has made available a total of (76) trucks of assorted fertilizer to Zamfara farmers for sales at a subsidize rate.
This is contained in the statement made available to newsmen by the Chairman of the publicity committee of his political group, Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji.
The statement added that, the Chairman of the Yari political group Lawal M. Liman provided the statistics of the intervention at a press briefing in Gusau on Tuesday.
Liman stated that, (5) trucks of the assorted fertilizer would be allocated to eight local governments that made up of the Zamfara Central and North Senatorial districts, while (6) trucks are to be allocated to the (6) local governments that constituted the Zamfara West the Senator Yari’s Senatorial Constituency.
According to the statistics from Mr. Liman the cost of the NPK and Urea based on the market value is put at between N40,000 to N45,000 per each bag of 50kg but noted that the Senator has subsidized the products to N20,000 per bag.
He noted that the idea behind the subsidy is to support the farmers in Zamfara to be able to afford the products, especially at a time when their price has skyrocketed.
Liman further explained that, the distribution of the product would be done in such a way that it will cover the entire (147) wards in the state.
He added that, the sales of the fertilizer will be done without recourse to any political party affiliation by the beneficiaries
The exercise, according to the press statement, is to be conducted by the same committee that executed the distribution of the food stuffs during the immediate past Ramadan
