The Kaura Namoda local government council Chairman, Mannir Muazu Haidara, has alleged that in Kagara ward, where he participated in the Kaura Namoda re-run election, soldiers aided APC members in rigging the election in three polling units.
Haidara raised these allegations during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the Thursday-scheduled re-run election for the Kaura Namoda state assembly by-election held on Tuesday.
He noted that the soldiers specifically assisted their APC counterparts in removing the ballot boxes from their respective polling units and taking them to the collation centers.
He said that despite their intervention, the soldiers refused to act, which motivated them to write a petition against the concerned soldiers.
He also alleged that APC members were aided during Saturday’s by-election in perfecting vote-buying, and the INEC refused to stop the illegal act.
