An APC chieftain in Zamfara, Sani Abdullahi Wamban Shinkafi, has urged security agencies to invite leaders of any planned protest in Zamfara to identify their sponsors.
Wambai who was reacting to the recent protest staged by the people of Kaura Namoda during a media briefing in Gusau on Thursday, insisted that if a protest of such magnitude is allowed, it will constitute a serious threat to the already volatile state of Zamfara.
He alleged that some desperate politicians are behind the planned protests happening in Zamfara, noting that unless the situation is brought under control, such developments will create more confusion than anticipated.
“It is confusing that a villager who claimed he was robbed by bandits can now mobilize vehicles in the name of protest. There must be sponsors fueling this protest to create confusion and destabilize the state,” he said.
“Last week, the people of Fegin Mahe staged a protest against the excesses of banditry, but surprisingly, they came with placards and mobilized vehicles to Gusau, the capital city.”
He referenced the recent peaceful uprising in Bakori, where he stated that the protest, which started peacefully, was hijacked by some bad elements who mischievously created serious havoc.
