Videos and various facebook posts by Students of the Federal University Gusau on Thursday night have caused serious panic amongst students who stay around the permanent site of the University even as they suspected they were under attack by the bandits.
Various facebook posts were made by some students calling for peoples intervention on the ground that, they were under attack.
Pictures of the arrival of the soldiers in the University were also posted by some Students.
But in a swift reaction to the facebook posts Governor’s Director General on new Media Malam Bello Zauma posted this in his facebook page
“The rumor going round that bandits have raided Federal University Gusau is FALSE. What happened was that a group of Fulani from neighbouring village were passing by returning from a ceremony were spotted by students. With the fear already weighty in the minds of people following the Jangebe unfortunate incident, there was a panic and the students thought they were under attack and scampered for safety”.
“We therefore call on everyone to calm down and go about their normal life activities”.
