Following directives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)and affiliated unions on national protest, in Zamfara state labour unions have staged a peaceful protest with some members chanting “
Labour unions in Zamfara state had joined their counterparts across Nigeria to stage a protest over the economic reality in the country.
The protest was conducted as part of compliance to the directive of the national leadership of the labour unions.
The active members of the Union took to the street to chanting “palliatives not enough Nigerians need stable economy”.
The labour union activists started the protest from the labour house along Gada Biyu amd worked to Zamfara state House of Assembly complex where they formally registered their grievances on behalf of Zamfara workers.
The protestors were majorly carrying placards with various inscriptions including “palliatives not enough we need urgent intervention to catalog our grievances.”
Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and that of Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comr. Sani Haliru and Said Mudi jointly presented letter of grievances on behalf of Zamfara workers to the Speaker of the state house of Assembly Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki.
The Speaker who personally received the labour activists and commended them for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.

“I commended your maturity and courage for a peaceful protest for the struggle and promised to convey the message to the appropriate quarters”.

He urged the labour union to continue to be more patient and support state government programmes for the betterment of all residents in the state.
