It has been another form of political mockery against the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal by the splinter group of Zamfara lawmakers when they raised a substantial allegation that the sum of N9 billion has been expended on the renovation of Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau.
State lawmaker from Talatar Mafara Aliyu Ango Kagara raised the allegations during the proceeding of the splinter group held on Thursday.
He alleged that, same structure that was put in place at the cost of N1b by the administration of Sen. Yari as a Governor was now renovated by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration and commissioned at the cost of N9b.
Now the onus lies with the government of Dauda Lawal to come out in public to either deny the figure captured by Kagara or raise superior argument if the figure is accurate and justify what has been procured to validate the expenditure.
I specifically expect the client ministry that is Ministry for Health to respond to these very weighty allegations raised against the government in a more professional way.
The ministry of budget should also come out to provide budgetary data where this amount was pull as approved in the either 2024 or 2025 approoriation.
And if it is funding from the World Bank N-G Cares program breakdown of this N9b should be provided so that the matter can be laid to rest.
These allegations by the faction of the state House of assembly are weighty, but I am sure the government of Dauda Lawal must have a defense to offer.
I advise that this matter should not be left in silence, a professional defense needs to be offered because transparency is the back born of a credible government.
For me the threat of impeachment by this lawmakers is a myriad but their approach of whistle blowing should not be taken lightly.
