The only surviving PDP member at Zamfara state House of Assembly, Hon. Salihu Zurmi has alleged that his life has been under imminent threat since his refusal to affirm his consent for the impeachment of the state Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu Gusau.
He added that because of threat he has chooses to run out of the state and take refuge at the neighboring state.
“They are threatening to arrest me because I have decided not to support the impeachment plan of the state Deputy Governor. My decision is not in conformity with the state government interest who saw me as a threat to the move”.
He said this development influenced his ordeal since government believed without arresting him the mission of the state may not be fulfilled.
“Though I have not been arrested, I am of strong conviction that the state government is behind my ordeal of planned arrest”.
“Because of my love for the party, I had started reaching out to my colleagues not be allowed to be used for an illegal mission. Because the government has been briefed of my consultation with the members, it insisted that, it must know what I am trying to influence among the members”.
He specifically accused the state Governor of masterminding his planned arrest, noting that some people were hired to invite him in a hotel for him to be arrested.
But the Governor’s Mal. Zailani Bappa denied the allegations when he spokes to BBC Hausa service and also explained that the Governor does not normally interfere in the activities of the state lawmakers.
