Election Petition Tribunal in respect of the state house of assembly bye election conducted in Zamfara has dismissed the petition by Bello Dankande Gamji and APC challenging the conduct of the bye election.

In a judgement delivered by the Chairperson of the tribunal justice Raliat Bassey said some grounds of the petition are incompetent and defective.

She said in the first place there is no first petitioner in the eyes of law because Bello Dankande who is the first petitioner did not participate in the election which returned PDP as the winner of the election.

On the main petition, the court said, the petitioners has failed to probe allegation of corrupt practices and non-compliance with the electoral act by the INEC.

The tribunal also argued that, the petitioners have failed to probe that they have scored the highest lawful number of votes cast in the election.

APC was represented at the proceeding by its lead counsel Barr. Mahmud Magaji (SAN), PDP on the other hand was represented by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) While INEC was represented by Barr. Sani Katu (SAN).
