As Donald Trump and his security detail were leaving a golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, they heard gunfire. There was a shooting nearby, which led to the initial assumption that it was just a coincidence. However, further information has now surfaced.
According to sources, a man who was close to the club was shot by Secret Service agents. He fled, dropping an assault rifle, an AK-47, on the ground, but he was later caught on the I-95 interstate.
Reporters were informed by insiders that the inmate, a 50-year-old guy, was thought to be from Hawaii. When the suspect was taken into custody, he had a GoPro camera on.
The arrestee’s motivation is being looked into by the Secret Service; it’s unclear who fired the rounds initially (apart from a Secret Service agent) and whether there was a possibility of another assassination attempt. According to sources, the suspect had been actively supporting Taiwan and Ukraine on social media with several messages.
Trump said it best when he said, “Shots were heard in my neighborhood.” The Republican declared himself safe and well.
The FBI added that it “looks like an attempted assassination” of the former president following the shooting incident close to the golf club.
