The popular bandit leader Bello Turji has allegedly lost over (100) of his kinsmen to a renewed attack launched against his base by some conventional security operatives hybrid set of Community Protection Guards (CPG) in collaboration with the special operation guards from Borno.
According to a source, the attack on Bello Turji and his men was launched at a place called Chida in Shinkafi local government area of the state.
Saidu Garba a resident of Shinkafi area said the operation was successful as a result of the collaboration with one repentant bandit leader Bashari Maniya.
He said Bashari Maniya led the CPG operatives to the hide-out where Bello Turji was hiding.
He added that having being informed about the plan, Bello Turji mobilized over (1000) bandits to face the community protection troops.
Saidu Garba said even though Turji loses over (100) of his troops, reports indicated that the conventional security operatives and that of community protection guards also loses about (20) of their men to the encounter which lasted for several hours.
One of the Governor’s spokesman Mustapha Jafar Kaura confirmed the incident but said he could not give the factual figure of those killed during the encounter.
