Former Commissioner for Information in Zamfara Ibrahim Magaji Dosara who was unceremoniously sacked on Monday by Governor Bello Matawalle has handed over the affairs of the ministry to the Permanent Secretary Barr. Sani Nasarawa on Wednesday.

Until his unceremonious sacking by the Governor he was rated by the practicing journalists in the state as the worst Commissioner for Information who tried to create a fence of enmity between some media houses and the government.

In less than one month in office he has planned to use security agencies to clamp down on some media houses whom he has personal grudge with their Chief Executives.

Less than a month to his sacking also he betrayed the former principal he served for eight years as Special Adviser Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar by accusing him before his new boss Matawalle of not given him the deserving opportunity to carry out his official duties, a comment condemned by all the journalists present during the Iftar with the Governor.

He was also alleged to have attempted to muscle down some media aids of the Governor and push them to destroy the long term working relationship they have build with the majority of the media houses before he was appointed as Commissioner.

According to the statement by the Director of information Services Usman Muhammad Maru said part of the achievements of the sacked Commissioner was securing the reopening of the state FM station which was shut down by the NBC, two weeks before his appointment.

He also said the sacked commissioner secured the approval of Governor Matawalle for the establishment of the state Media Corporation which was aimed at enhancing the capacity, efficiency and effectiveness of the state media industry to generate revenue and serve the people better, in terms of information, enlightenment, entertainment and awareness.

Other unfulfilled plans of the sacked commissioner according to the statement include mapping out plans to make all the state media outfits online for wider coverage.

He also said Dosara intended to deploy reporters to cover all the 19 northern states and FCT.

At the handing over ceremony the sacked commissioner urged the Permanent Secretary and the management of the ministry not to relent in their efforts to ensure the implementation of the new government policies for the realization of their set objectives.

Dosara also urged the staff of the ministry to continue to be law-abiding and loyal citizens to the government of Zamfara State.
