TWO PERSONS SHOT DEAD AS ZAMFARA STATE GOVT. DELEGATION FACES PROTEST AT JANGEBE, GOVT IMPOSES 24 HOURS CURFEW

It was an atmosphere of tension at Jangebe when the state government delegation led by state Deputy Governor Mahadi Aliyu went to the town on Wednesday to hand over the released abducted girls on behalf of the state government.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Ahmad Abdullahi Jangebe informed this medium that armed security men attached to the state government delegation shot at the two protesting citizens of Jangebe to death.

He said, when the delegation came to the town some angry youths attempted to protest against them and in the cause of the encounter one of the soldiers shot on the air and the bullet hits one of the deceased who gave up the ghost instantly.

He said the other second person was shot dead while the delegation was moving out of Jangebe town when he attempted to stone one of their vehicle.

He said the atmosphere was later put to calm as residents panic and the majority of them left the town instantly.

He told this medium that the entire students brought by the delegation were handed over to their families as the school remain under lock and key.

On the security situation in Jangebe the source said as at now the military personnel earlier stationed in the town have been redeployed and replaced with five number of mobile police men.

Meanwhile Zamfara State government has approved the imposition of a dusk-to-down curfew at Jangebe town with effect from wednesday the 3rd of March 2021.

According to the statement signed by Zamfara Commissioner for Information Sulaiman Tunau Anka the decision was taken In order to prevent further breach of peace.

Tunau further said, “Similarly, there is strong discovered evidence of Market activities in the town that aid and abet bandits activities in the town and neighboring communities. Consequently, all market activities in the town are hereby suspended until further notice”.

“The state government is poised to ensure safety of lives and properties of its citizens at all cost”.

“With this announcement, the Zamfara State Police Command is hereby enjoined to ensure total enforcement”.
