Zamfara State Commandant of Community Protection Guards Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (rtd) has confirmed the arrest of two of his operatives over alleged involvement in the murder of an Islamic Cleric Liman Hassan Mada.
Col. Yandoto insisted that the state command has no hand in the arrest and murder of the Islamic Cleric.
“We have arrested those that are finger pointed, and we are going to interrogate them before handing them over to the Department of the State Security for further investigation.
As Commandant, Yandoto promised not to protect anyone among his personnel accused of breaking law and order.
“Once we have established our facts, we will hand over those that have hand in the murder of late Imam Hassan Mada to the police for prosecution” Yandoto added.
He noted that according to the rules of engagement of guard the state leadership has to give order for an arrest and anything contrary to the order from his office is illegal.
He added that the Chief Imam is not in the wanted list of organization and at no time an order for his arrest was issued.
“I could not sleep yesterday when I heard about the unfortunate incident. It was a very sad incident and we don’t allow the matter to be carpeted”.
