The management of the National Youth Service Corp says the delay in the commencement of the payment of N77,000 monthly allowances to the Corp members was due to non release of the fund by the Federal government.
The Director General of the Corp, Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara in an exclusive interview with the BBC Hausa service stated that they have officially received the notice of the increment of the allowances of the Corp members, but the money has not been released to the agency.
He added that, even the staff of the agency had their salary reviewed by the government recently but for almost four months after the review, implementation is yet to begin.
He insisted that the agency was not informed when the payment will begin but only notified of the reviewed in terms Corp members monthly allowances but noted that the implementation will begin soonest.
He added that the review of the Corp members allowances from N33,000 to N77000 will be with effects from 29th July 2024 based on the circular they received.
Government has also promised that the Corp members may be paid arrears of three months in lieu of the allowances reviewed.
