The Chairman of Zamfara Circle, Dr. Aminu Lawal Tsafe, has stated that without the World Bank’s intervention in education (AGILE), the performance of the Ministry of Education in Zamfara would have been unsustainable.

The Chairman, who was a guest on a TV show called Thunder Blowers held on Saturday, said the program has performed exceptionally well in terms of the infrastructural development of education in the state.

He further stated that, in addition to infrastructural development, the AGILE project has also supported the recruitment of about 1,500 teachers to be integrated into the formal teaching subsector.

He added that the number of human resources in terms of teachers in the state is too inadequate to meet the needs of the school pupils.

The group expressed concern that, perhaps due to the consistency of AGILE’s intervention, the government of Zamfara has become too relaxed in providing the requisite funding to the education sector.

The group also expressed fear that after the duration of the AGILE program elapses, the government of Zamfara does not have a proper sustainability plan to continue with the program.
