Former gubernatorial candidates of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA in the 2019 General elections Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has accused the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State Abdulazeez Yari of securing and looting 77 billion naira loan which he secured from commercial banks from 2011 to 2019.
Shinkafi who made the declaration during a media briefing in Gusau on Wednesday said, there is nothing meaningful to show as evidence of what the money was used for.
He accused the administration of former Governor Yari of conniving with some commercial banks to extort and loot money meant for developmental projects in Zamfara State.
“In one of our findings we detected that, Sterling Bank alone has illegally extorted the sum of N155 million naira as COT charges from the state government accounts despite the written directive issued by the state government instructing all commercial banks to stop charging COT from government accounts” Shinkafi added.
He said, there have are evidences of illegal bank charges on many bank accounts which are alleged to have been diverted to some privilege individuals within the government.
He noted that based on the available records, Yari has left behind N77 billion naira worth of commercial bank loans which Matawalle is still battling to settle without any evidence to show for what was done with the loan
