Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto has stated that he expected the Vice President Kashmir Shetima to consult him over the rumors of deposing the Sultan before making the public statement.
The Governor, who spoke through his spokesperson, Abubakar Bawa insisted, as vice president he is supposed to verify facts before commenting on sensitive national matters.
“We sincerely expected the Vice President to have consulted the Governor before going public”.
“As an elder statesman and father to all he should have facts and figures before commenting on issues raised by mischief-makers and unreliable social media sources known for negative propaganda”.
Bawa insisted that there was no attempt to remove the Sultan and no threat had been made against the Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar.
He stated that the Sultan enjoys all the powers he was empowered to enjoy and that none of his right was denied.
“We do not need to be reminded to guard, protect and promote the Sultan, it is our sole responsibility, “ the statement added.
