Governor of Zamfara state Dauda Lawal has stated that what happened at Tungar kara which resulted to killing of civilians by Air force strikes was because operatives of the Community Protection Guards were mistaken for bandits.
The Governor who stated this during a Channels TV program Politics Today insisted that they made the calls for the quick response of the Air force and that along the way the local security guards (CPG) who were also called to offer help were mistakenly hits by the airstrike.
He insisted that the incident does not debunk the fact that there is a strong synergy between the local security operatives and all the conventional security agencies working for peace in the state.
He added that it was as a result of the synergy that the security situation in Zamfara State improves tremendously adding that what he needed is to sustain the momentum.
The Governor insisted that if he can have full control of the security operatives working in Zamfara, he can end banditry within one month.
He further said to win the fight against banditry, training of the personnel, planning, and remuneration, including insurance, are key strategic things one needs to do as a leader.
