Zamfara APC supporters loyal to former Governor Abdulaziz Yari have distanced themselves from the recent attack allegedly launched by some suspected political thugs loyal to Governor Bello Matawalle.
Chairman of the faction Lawal M. Liman who condemned the act described it as barbaric and undemocratic.
In a statement which was signed by the Chairman of the publicity committee of the faction Alh Ibrahim Dan madamin Birnin Magaji asked police to investigate the perpetrators and sponsors of this barbaric incident and bring them to justice.
“It was not in the character of the former Governor, Hon. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) while in office as the Executive Governor for 8 years to use any instrument of Party or Government to cause mayhem to any of the opposition Political Parties at any point in time, stressing that When The PDP was to hold its Presidential Campaign Rally for 2019 General Election in Gusau, the then state Governor allow them access to state facilities to hold their congress”.
Liman said their leader Abdulazeez Yari has strongly believed in the fundamental principles of freedom of association and also the right to belong to a political party of choice.
He commended the maturity of the supporters of the former Governor for maintaining peaceful atmosphere and for being law abiding at all time
