Zamfara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, has issued a strong warning to the staff at the Infectious Diseases Center in Damba to desist from selling free drugs to the public.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry, Sulaiman Isah, the commissioner condemned the act, emphasizing that the drugs are to be distributed to the public free of charge.
The commissioner, who made a surprise visit to the center, condemned the alleged practice, describing it as unethical.
She stated that any staff members found guilty would henceforth face disciplinary action.
The commissioner emphasized that the state government provides free essential medicines to public health facilities and that patients should not be charged for any reason.
The visit, according to the commissioner, sends a message that corruption will not be tolerated in the health sector.
The ministry urged the public to report such misconduct to appropriate action.
