Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has called on President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government to consider the option of coming up with a comprehensive plan of action that would have the strength of sustaining the peace effort initiated by Zamfara state government aimed at ending armed bandit actibities in Nigeria.
He made the call on Tuesday when he received a high-powered federal government delegation led by the Attorney-General of the federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Shehu Malami SAN who were in Zamfara for a sympathy visit to the victims of the fire incident.
According to him, based on the precedent with the militants of Niger Delta, dialogue may be the best option to ending social conflict especially those with ethnic affiliations noting that banditry may not be an exception.
He told the delegation that while his administration is fighting those bandits who have failed to surrender he is also rolling out various plans for social intervention programmes which would cater for the youth, women and other vulnerable ictims of armed bandit activities.
He thanked the delegation and the President for the visit and said the visit has further demonstrated President Muhammadu Buhari’s fatherly love for the people of Zamfara State and his administration’s genuine desire to put an end to the social and economic problems confronting the people of the state
Earlier, leader of the federal government delegation who doubled as the minister of justice, Abubakar Malami commended Governor Matawalle’s security approach which he observed is recording successes.
