Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has warned armed bandits operating in the state to either repent or leaves the show of Zamfara as he draws a new roadmap which is aimed at tackling security challenges facing the state.
The Governor handed down the warning on Saturday when he received the delegation of the APC Governors’ Forum who paid him a sympathy visit at the state government house Gusau.
In a statement by the Director General Press Affairs to Governor of Zamfara Malam Yusuf Idris said, Matawalle declared that, his recent decision to suspend one of his district head in Shinkafi emirate for allegation of having a deal with some suspected bandits was just a tip of the iceberg noting that, in the next four days, he will come up with some decisive measures aimed at dealing with those making life unbearable for the innocent citizens in the state.
Matawalle further said his recent visit to Abuja has accorded him the opportunity to discuss extensively with President Muhammadu Buhari and the nation’s service chiefs on the new security approach which is going to deal seriously with deceptive and unrepentant bandits.
He thanked security agencies for their support and cooperation in the fight against armed banditry and also thanked members of the public for sharing vital information to security agencies for prompt action.
He also thanked the two visiting governors, Atiku Bagudo of Kebbi who is the Chairman APC Governors’Forum and governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa for the visit and their show of concern.
Earlier while delivering his condolence message, the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said they were in the state to extend their heartfelt condolences to the government and good people of Zamfara State over the recent bandits attacks that resulted in the lost of innocent souls.
Senator Bagudu said they were together with governor Matawalle in Abuja holding a security meeting when the sad incident happened which forced the governor to leave for Zamfara to ensure total control of the situation.
He said the action of the Governor influences them to follow him to Gusau and consoled with him over the tragedy.
He prayed that the attack will be the last in the state and prayed for the souls of the departed ones.
