Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has lamented that, about one billion six hundred naira out of the state monthly allocation goes to servicing of debt accrued by the previous administrations.

Matawalle who stated this when he played host to the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress for Ramadan breakfast on Friday.

In a statement by the Governor’s Director General on Media and Communications Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau said, Zamfara is the least state paid from the federation account

He said the state is left with an allocation of between N1.3 to N1.8 billion naira monthly which is usually meant for the payment of salary to over 28,000 workers as well as run the affairs of the state.

He assured that, despite the crises his administration would neither sack nor rationalized workforce in order not to jeopardize the interest of many defendants.

While commending the workers for their understanding and commitment to duty, the governor assured that he will continue to meet their demands as well as pay a full monthly salary every month without delay.

On security, Governor Matawalle charged the workers to be more vigilant especially with the arrest of some state civil servants in connection with aiding banditry.
