Zamfara State Police command has confirmed the occurrence of a clash between members of fulani herdsmen and farmers in Maradun area of the state.
The command denied a story trending on social media that a school was attacked in Maradun local government area of Zamfara State.
In a statement by the police command public relations officer SP Shehu Muhammad said the writer who spread the story only attempted to insert fear and confusion in to the minds of the public.
Shehu said, no casualty was recorded during the clash except a minor skirmishes which was brought under control noting that the matter is under investigation by the state CID and soonest the culprits would be prosecuted to court.
“A combined team of policemen led by the DPO responded promptly. They are currently on confidence building patrols to avoid escalation of the violence”.
SP Shehu urged members of the public to discountenance the story and remain calm without any fear or apprehension.
