The Kaura Namoda local Chairman, Munnir Muazu Haidara, has raised concerns that, as members of the People’s Democratic Party, they are not convinced by the security arrangements made by INEC as it schedules the re-run election on Thursday.
Haidara, while addressing the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner during a stakeholders meeting, insisted that the re-run election should be suspended to allow for proper security arrangements.
He stated that, as the Chief Security Officer of the local government, he was not convinced about the election taking place on Thursday, especially given the incidents that occurred during Saturday’s by-election.
He also called for the cancellation of six additional polling units where cases of over-voting were reported, indicating that the PDP may not participate in the re-run election.
On behalf of the people of Kaura Namoda, Haidara urged INEC to suspend the Thursday scheduled election until the security arrangements are perfected.
