The Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Board, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), officially launched its Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) Nutrition Strategy Policy Document today.

According to the Spokesman of the Ministry of Health, the activity marked a significant step toward strengthening nutrition interventions in the state.

He stated that, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, the State Commissioner for Health, formally unveiled the document at the City King Hotel in Gusau.

She stated that the launch reflects the government’s commitment to improving maternal, newborn, and child health through effective nutrition practices.

“This strategy will serve as a roadmap for promoting healthy behaviors and reducing malnutrition across Zamfara’s communities,” Dr. Maradun emphasized.

She also commended UNICEF for its technical and financial support, noting that the partnership is crucial for the successful implementation of the policy.

Dr. Husaini Yakubu Anka, Executive Secretary of the Primary Healthcare Board, extended gratitude to partners, civil society groups, and community leaders for their “invaluable support” to the state’s health initiatives.

In separate remarks, Alhaji Abdulrazak, the Director of Nutrition, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his “unwavering support” to the nutrition and health sector in general.
