The Zamfara State government, through its Ministry of Health, has provided cholera medications and other consumables to areas affected by the recent outbreak.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, announced the donation while presenting the items to the Chairman of Maradun Local Government Council, Sanusi Ahmad Dosara.

The items presented include intravenous fluids (Ringer’s lactate, normal saline), rubber kettles, plastic drums, handwashing stations, soap and detergents, chlorine, and various water drinking cups.

Dr. Maradun also stated that the state government has perfected plans to distribute similar cholera drugs and other medical consumables to all 14 local government areas of the state.

She urged the Chairman of the council to ensure the supplies are effectively used at health facilities to benefit residents.

According to the Commissioner, 11 local government areas of the state have been affected by the cholera outbreak, and three local government areas out of the 11, which include Bungudu, Maru, and Maradun, have already received the drugs donated by the state government.

According to the information officer of the Ministry of Health in Zamfara, Sulaiman Isah, the Chairman thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for his support and Dr. Maradun for her “timely intervention,” promising to ensure the supplies reach all affected facilities.
