Zamfara State government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to providing adequate security during the conduct of Bakura bye election scheduled for 31st of October 2020.
State Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu gave the affirmation during a stakeholders meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.
Mahdi noted that, the government of Bello Matawalle has done perfectly well in restoring relative peace in the state and assured that the tempo will be sustained before, during and after the scheduled bye election in Bakura.
He used the opportunity to called on all political parties and other relevant stakeholders to give their maximum cooperation to both the government and security agencies operating in the state with a view to ensuring that relative peace is enjoyed by the people of the state.
He commended the INEC for organising the meeting describing it as timely. He also called on the electoral umpire to remain neutral and unbiased through out the election process.
Speaking earlier, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Zamfara Mrs Asma’u Maikudi said Bakura Constituency has a total of 92,697 registered Voters, (10) registration areas, 114 Polling Units and 9 Voting Points where the registered voters had collected a total of 89,615 Permanent Voters Cards, PVC, leaving a balance a balance of 2,235 which is now with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Gusau Branch.
The Commissioner therefore, called on the political parties to observe the election regulations and guidelines by strictly following the election time table while implementing of their political activities
