Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board has trained 1,974 teachers on jolly phoenix programme in the state.
This was announced by the Director of Primary Education Alh Garba Abdullahi during the opening ceremony of the programme.
He said, jolly Phoenix is a literacy English program organized by UBEC together with ZSUBEB annually to train Zamfara State teachers on the new method of reading and writing among pupils.
According to the statement by the ZSUBEB Public Relations Officer 11 Ibrahim Musa Maizare said, zamfara State has been active in the programme since 2011 and noting that according to the data by the National Bureau for Statistics the illiteracy level of the state has reduced drastically from 21 to 9 percent.
On his part training manager jolly Phoenix zamfara State and Technical Education specialist training manager. Malam Abbas Muhammad Tsafe explain that, jolly Phoenix is an avenue and easy way of coaching pupils to learn how to read and write effectively.
He said, the program would be extended across all fourteen local government areas of the state and he local governments have been divided in two four zones.
He called on the parents to send their wards to school, considering the fact the jolly programme could not be achieved without the cooperation of the parent
