I am constraint to begin to wonder how the political beneficiaries of Zamfara 2023 election are going to survive the political intrigues if they refused to act according to the wishes of the people that elected them.
What happened in Zamfara is a genuine political revolution that is beyond personal ownership of any politician because people of Zamfara had decided to tore the political lines and elect candidates based on their personal conviction and political judgement.
It has now become an established political precedent in Zamfara that from now onward party and political party affiliation will no longer matters when it comes to election of political office holders.
“The choice of candidates in Zamfara is now presumed to be based certain indicators most especially personal relationship of a candidate, honesty, integrity, capacity and ability to deliver to the principal choice of the people”.
Now what the citizens of Zamfara envisage in our electoral process is that credibility of a candidate buying for elective position will matters more when it comes to leadership recruitment exercise.
The political actors in Zamfara must take note of this simple fact that, no matter their love with the candidate they want to anointed for any elective position they must be able to assess his competency, integrity, personal relationship with the people and his ability to deliver.
“these selective criteria are basically essential and compromising will result to the emergence of a consequences similar to what is experienced in the 2023”.
Gummi people had for instance demonstrated this political hypothesis by sticking to re-electing Engr. Sulaiman Gummi as their house of rep member not mincing the strategic political status of Abdulaziz Yari in the politics of Gummi.
The people of Zamfara central had also demonstrated their will against Senator Marafa in the majority of opinion not because he is not competent, or he is lacking in anything but his relationship with the people of his immediate constituency.
Rikiji on the other hand, has suffered a serious set back for the second time because people believed his connection with home base political class is not deep sighted but always renewed on political demands.
“Right or wrong public opinion should matters more when it comes to playing politics and also the choice of candidates for elective positions because people are becoming enlightened about politics and choice of political leadership”.
On the general note I will like to say with all sense of sincerity that it is not yet (Uhuru) for those elected because their only saviour is to be able to deliver to their campaign promises or else they should pay for the supreme price.
The lesson left by the 2023 election in Zamfara is that your credibility and personal relationship with the people will save you and your political reputation by 2027 and beyond.
Zamfara political permutations have changed as against the popular predictions by the political observers. Now it is not the political camp that matters but your personal credibility and credentials.
