The Murky water of dirty politics has unfortunately spilled over an innocent quintessential gentleman! Our teacher and former Vice chancellor. Prof A.A Zuru during the last supplementary election in Adamawa state.

To the best of our knowledge of Prof AAZuru, If you knew him as a lecturer or a vice chancellor in Usmanu Danfodiyo unversity, one undeniable fact you can testify to, even if you are the greatest of his enemies, is the fact that this elderly academic is an icon of truth and dexterity in service clearly marked by his incorruptible posture to do right thing at all cost and no matter whose ox is goard. His integrity is extremely too expensive to be bought with any package by corrupt politicians.

Sadly, in a severe case of desperation and mistaken identity, prof A.A Zuru was assaulted yesterday as featured in a viral video after some animalistic political thugs attacked him in his hotel room while looking for someone else.

This is so appalling to us, his well wishers and other good citizens of this country who cherish to nurture people of exceptional academic and moral qualities able and ready to render similar selfless services to our father land like Prof. AA Zuru.

This despicable act of thuggery and hooliganism is, to say least, barbaric, repellant repulsive and repugnant in the 21st century Nigeria and is unacceptable to us.

Prof A.A Zuru’s terrible experience of falling a victim of untoward humiliation in the hands of outlawed political thugs is one out of many that our patriotic academics repeatedly face whenever they offer themselves to serve the country during election.

We therefore condemn this in the strongest term possible and hereby call on relevant authorities to launch a deliberate man haunt of the culprits and any of their co-crime partners and prosecute them to serve as deterrent to others.

Any attempt to attempt an attempt of sweeping this act of insanity and civil disobedience in our polity under the carpet, shall be a boarding pass for negative potentials to breed more undesirable elements that will eventually ward-off good citizen from offering themselves for such important National assignments while its effect on our democracy can better be imagined.

I therefore appeal to all well-meaning and patriotic Nigerian academics and other people of good will to voice out our concern on this issue and give this post the widest publicity until the matter is fully investigated and full weight of law is brought to bear on the culprits.

In the meantime, Allah ka Isar ma Dattijo Prof AA Zuru. Allah kuma ya kiyaye gaba!

Signed
Sani Ahmed Sambo.
