Nigeria’s center for Disease Control (NSCD) had expressed worries over increasing outbreak of meningitis in the country.
The Executive Director of the center Dr. Jide Idris announced that so far a total (74) Nigerians had so far died as a result of meningitis.
He also announced that so far a total of (807) in (22) states are infected with meningitis.
Dr. Jide further said that the ailment usually becomes common among people between the months of November and May every inter-crossing years, nothing that serious measures needs to be taken to ensure that the problem is out under control.
He added that, the center had already provided emergency response teams in states like Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina where the ailment became more threatening at all time.
The ED said, so far, in Kebbi alone, a total of (248) people have been affected by meningitis out of which (26) died from January ending to date.
