A security expert on the Sahel Barr. Audu Bulama Bukarti has explained that even though Boko Haram sect has been weakened over the time, they still constitute a threat to the safety of Nigerian citizens.
According to the security expert in an interview with the BBC, since the killing of Abubakar Shekau the former leader of the group the current sets of leaders of the group have not been launching murderous attacks on public and that is the reason their activities are not made public for sometimes now.
He also said there were used to be some circumstances where their murderous activities are usually hidden for some strategic reasons.
He insisted that the sect and its operatives are alive, and they are well armed, noting that the only reason is both the operatives of the Nigerian army and that of the Boko Haram have not been waging war against another.
He said Boko Haram are still residing within the lake Chad area and part of Yobe state, and that they must be attacked at their base if the group is to be eliminated completely.
