The candidates of the People’s Democratic Party for the post of the fourteen local government council chairmen have won their election and duly returned by the state independent electoral Commission.

The election which took place on Saturday witnessed low turn out as the majority of the people went about their usual businesses.

Some people called what happened on Saturday as affirmation as major opposition parties including the All Progressives Congress have boycotted the election.

APC filed a suit at the federal high court Gusau challenging the conduct of the council polls on the basis that adequate notice has not been given to parties to prepare for the election.

The federal high court on the 13th of November 2024 dismissed the suit because of lack of merit.

Only a candidate of NNPP for Gusau local government participated in the race from the opposition parties.
