Zamfara state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal holding in Sokoto had on Friday adjoined the proceeding in respect of the petition filed by Bello Matawalle and APC challenging the election of Governor Dauda Lawal to 6th of July 2023 for definite hearing.
This followed an application for adjournment filed by the lead counsel to former Governor Bello Matawalle Mr. Usman O. Sule (SAN).
The lead counsel requested for the adjournment on the premise of his non-availability due to the scheduled Fiddau prayer of his elder brother holding in Kogi State.
Counsels to all the parties involved in the case do not object to the application for adjournment as requested by Mr. Usman O. Sule (SAN).
Though counsel to Dauda Lawal attempted to apply for a shift of date to 16th July 2023, the tribunal refused the oral application and insisted that Thursday 6th July 2023 is scheduled for definite hearing.
On the resume date 6th of July 2023,Bello Muhammad Matawalle and APC are to open their case by bringing first set of (10) witnesses to be cross-examined by counsels in court.
Former Governor Bello Matawalle and indeed APC are to bring a total of (35) witnesses, exclusive of those to be brought on subpoena for cross examination.
