Some suspected gunmen in large number invaded Moriki town in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state and killed four persons on Sunday.
According to a resident of the town the gunmen invaded the town at around 1:00am while people were observing “night prayers” in congregation and started shooting sporadically.
He said while people panic and attempted to run for their safety, four of them were killed by the bandits and close to a dozen sustained various degrees of injury.
He said the funeral prayers of the deceased was conducted at around 11:am on Monday while six persons are currently on admission at General Hospital Moriki.
He also told this medium that, four persons that sustained critical injuries have been referred to Federal Medical Center Gusau for advance medical care and attention.
The Moriki attack of Sunday came barely less than a month after another attacked was launched at Kwangwami village a suburb area few distance to Morikk where the Chief Imam of the town alongside others were shot to death by another group of bandits.
When contacted, Zamfara State Police Command Public Relations Officer SP Shehu Muhammad said, tactical unit of the police are on the trail of the assailants with additional personnel already deployed to the area to help restore normalcy and apprehend the perpetrators.
The CP condoled the family of the deceased and assured them of more security deployment to all areas that are exposed to bandits activities in the state . 4 people were killed and 7 injured.
