The gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance in Zamfara Sani Abdullahi Wamban Shinkafi has accused the immediate past Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Ibrahim Magu of frustrating the prosecution of former Governor Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar over corrupt allegation.
Wamban Shinkafi who made the allegation while addressing press conference said the zonal office of the commission in Sokoto has concluded its investigation over allegations raised against the former Governor but Magu instructed them to withheld action over attempt to arraign the former Governor.
“I called the Zonal Head of EFCC Sokoto and challenged him on why the Commission was sitting on the petitions written against the former Governor but to my surprise he told me they are done with their investigation but the Chairman has frustrated their effort to to arraign the former Governor in court”.
He said soonest he will write a reminder to the new Chairman of the EFCC Abdul Rashid Bawa intimating him to allow the Sokoto Zonal office of the Commission to commences the trial of the former Governor of Zamfara.
He said the recent forfeiture of unclaimed money allegedly belonging to the former Governor by the ICPC is evident enough for the EFCC to commences prosecution of the former Governor Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar.
He added that Abdulazeez Yari has carted away illegitimate wealth from the state resources which he shall be punish for.
