The Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali has presented a cheaque worth (N30,210,289.32) to the next of kin of eight police officers who died of active service in Zamfara state.
Police Spokesperson in Zamfara SP Shehu Muhammad In a statement said, the IGP was represented at the event by the State Police Commissioner Ayuba Elkana Wednesday.
Shehu said, the presentation of the cheaques was part of the IGP’s initiative of enhancing the welfare of the families of late police officers who died while serving their fatherland.
Shehu quoted Elkana saying the gesture extended to the family members of the deceased will go along way in alleviating the suffering faced by them.
He said the CP assured the IGP that his men and officers will continue to do their best in the discharge of their duties for sustainable peace and sustainable development.
The Commissioner of Police therefore charged the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously, noting that, as at last ten (10) months alone, the Command had received similar cheaques from the Inspector General of Police nine (9) times and presented same to the beneficiaries.
This gesture according to the Commissioner of Police will serve as morale booster for the serving members of the force to continue to discharge their duty effectively.
One of the benefiting families, Fatima Murtala Baffa, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked the Inspector General of Police for the intervention and promised to use the money judiciously.
