Chairman of the Nigerian Labor Congress, Comr. Sani Haliru Magajin Rafin Kurya has placed an outright demands of the organized labor unions over the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage by Zamfara state government.

The labour chairman who was speaking to the BBC Hausa service on Thursday said unless the government of Zamfara brings out the agreed table and implemented what is due for every Zamfara worker, the union may not surrender to the decision of the state government on the new minimum wage.

He also said those workers whose salaries were withheld shall be investigated, and their fate be made known, adding that those with genuine cases shall be reinstated and be paid their salaries while those with bad cases shall be punished according to the law.

He added those with genuine cases should not only paid but deserves apology from the government of Zamfara State.

He said it was fair that based on the information received from the state, a committee was set up with the Permanent Secretaries’ office of the Head of Service, and that of the budget as members saddled with responsibilities of looking into the cases of those workers whose salaries was withheld.

It could be recalled that on Wednesday morning mixed reactions trailed the implementation of the new minimum wage, which many aggrieved Zamfara workers described as poorly implemented.

NLC Zamfara had earlier on Wednesday held a press briefing to condemn the implementation of the new minimum wage by Zamfara state government.
