A private lawyer in Zamfara Barr. Junaidu Abubakar Mafara has advocated for the monthly release of N1 billion to the Judiciary in Zamfara every month to enhance the speedy administration of the justice system.
He described the release of 20 million naira monthly to the High Court of justices and Shariah Courts as grossly inadequate noting that the money cannot take good care of the demand of the Judiciary.
Barr. Juniadu who gave the suggestion when he featured on Thunder Blowers TV show Tiryan Tiryan said, it is possible since the revenue sharing formula has stipulated what goes to each arm of government and what they are meant for.
He said the decision for the Judiciary Staff Union to embark on the indefinite strike action is apt and timely considering the level of deterioration of the funding of the judicial system by states.
Barr. Juniadu expressed sadness with the poor condition of some courts in Zamfara saying, there were many instances when court proceedings in Zamfara are stopped especially during the rainy season since the roofing of most of the courts are blown up by winds.
He said comparatively even the high courts are not in normal conditions since many times high court judges in Zamfara conduct proceedings without lightening and air conditions making it difficult to work under a conducive atmosphere.
He noted that many states in Nigeria are doing per better than Zamfara when it comes to funding of the judicial system and called on the state government of Zamfara to be decisive in addressing the crises of funding in the state judicial system.
