Members of Zamfara State House of Zamfara State House of Assembly have refuted the story going around the public via conventional and non-conventional media platform that they have resolved to suspend house proceedings till when the father of the Speaker and five others abducted have are released.
In a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the house Mustapha Jafaru Kaura on Tuesday said, there has never been a time when the issue of the abduction of the father of speaker was deliberated on the floor of the house let alone take a decision on the matter.
Jafaru pointed that, the house had resolved on the 23rd of July 2021 that it shall suspend its proceedings to allow for members went back to their respective constituencies and monitor the ongoing party membership registration.
Citing section 101 of the 1999 constitution as amended, Jafaru pointed that even while members of the state house of assembly are on recess committee sittings and oversight functions are still ongoing.
He said the house led by Speaker Nasiru Magarya expressed displeasure with the manner in which some media houses in the country publish or air their stories without verifying and substantiating their facts.
Jafaru on behalf of the members called on the public to disregard the stories and considered them as untrue.
