A constitutional lawyer, Barr. Bello Idris Galadi has asked Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle to consider the option of making a state legislation regarding the new “Oath of self distancing” enforced on all his appointees.
The lawyer who spoke during an exclusive interview with this medium said, if the new Oath would enhance and improve the situation of security in the state and clear the sincerity of those who are to manage public offices the oath should be sustained henceforth but noted that it should be back by an act of state legislation.
Galadi said the only oaths recognize by the constitution are the oaths of office and that of allegiance but insisted that, if the new Oath of self distancing is done on moral ground,, there is nothing wrong in that.
“If the new Oath of self distancing does not over-ride any of the oaths provided for by our law I don’t see anything wrong in that since may be the Governor might have introduced the oath on moral ground,” Galadi added.
