A non-governmental Organization named Zamfara Peace Ambassadors has sent a petition to the Zamfara State parallel assembly led Hon. Bashir Aliyu Gummi over what they termed as the illegal retrenchment of over (3000) Zamfara workers.
The petition which was read by one of the lawmakers that constituted the parallel assembly from Bukkuyum constituency, Hon. Bashir Abubakar Masama, highlighted that the civil servants retrenched could neither be explained their offenses nor be paid their monthly salary for months now.
The petition according Hon. Masama was duly signed by one Imrana Aliyu Moriki, Abdullahi Dansadau and Umar Nasir Bungudu.
Hon. Masama insisted that Zamfara being one of the states with peculiarities of serious security challenges emanating from severe poverty, could not survive the risk of frustrating these potential number of people into becoming jobless.
He further said a government that was elected to provide the basis needs and welfare of its people shouldn’t have to resort too low to retrenching its citizens and pushing them into poverty again.
“Mr. Speaker, among those workers retrenched there are those with four wives and (30) children, there are those with two wives and (15) children and both of them have been denied their source of livelihood for no reason.
In their separate contributions, members from Talatar Mafara and Maradun Hon. Aliyu. Ango Kagara and Faruk Dosara called on the leadership of their parallel assembly to make resolutions ordering for the reversal of the retrenchment pending when their parallel assembly constituted Advocate committee to verify the authenticity of the verification conducted.
