A former Deputy Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Zamfara Yahaya Abubakar Yari has blasted Zamfara former Governor Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura over his recent calls for reconciliation with the armed bandits.
Yahaya Yari who spoke via a viral video clip insisted that it was unfortunate for Yariman Bakura to be making such a call for dialogue with bandits, hence throughout the time when banditry lasted in Zamfara he had never raised his voice to speak about the effects of armed banditry on the people of Zamfara.
He stated that, if Yarima and his like mind are not interested in ending banditry, let them come out in the open and state it so that the whole world will know who are behind the Zamfara banditry.
“Our thinking is may be the former Governor Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura realized that the steps taken by Governor Dauda Lawal in ending banditry may likely succeed, so he brought up this idea of dialoging with the bandits to avert the Governor from taking the credit” Yari added.
It could be recalled that after visiting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday Sen. Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura told journalists that the best way to end banditry is for the Nigerian government to institute a dialogue with the bandits just the way late President Umar Yar’adua does with the Niger Delta militants.
His statement generated mixed reactions from several public affairs commentators, who argued that the call for the dialogue with the bandits is not timely.
