PROTEST IN ZAMFARA OVER ENDLESS KILLING

Residents of Zurmi Emirate Council in their hundreds had conducted violent protest over unending armed bandits activities in the area.

An eyewitness who spoke to this medium said the protesting residents are those living in communities badly affected by the years of armed bandits activities.

They are mostly from Kadamutsa, Yanbuki, Dada, Gidan Shaho, Marmaro and Gidan Kara communities.

He said, the demonstration lasted for two hours, and they allegedly attacked the personal residence of the Emir of Zurmi Abubakar Atiku, crashes many windows and valuable fittings in the house.

The protestors also attempted to get access to the main emirs palace where the emir and his palace members were seated as at the time of the protest, but they were prevented by the armed security forces.

The source said, the security forces could not use force to prevent the protestors instead they embarked on serious pleading which later resulted in restoring an atmosphere of peace.

No live was lost to the protset even though majority of them were carrying arms including sticks and local cutlassess

He noted that women, children, adult and aged persons from the communities affected all participated in the violent protest.

He also said he saw some protestors pushing dead bodies inside wheelbarrows while many of them were uttering dissatisfactory words to show their concern for lack seriousness of the government to tackle the security challenges affecting them.

Zamfara Police Command is yet to speak as at the time of filing the story.
